OneTone Telecom, Inc. is a South Carolina based Corporation, with its headquarters located in West Union, SC, where it has operated for more than Thirty Years. We have been previously licensed at federal, state and local levels and operated as a CLEC (Competitive Local Exchange Carrier). Our previous operations covered seven southeastern states servicing over 12,500 residential and business customers with local and long-distance calling services. When it was announced that Oconee County would receive the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) grant, One Tone immediately recognized the opportunity and was the first to secure a last mile contract with the FOCUS project. In mid 2016, we responded and were awarded a Request for Proposal (RFP) bid from Oconee County in the form of a management lease/purchase of the Oconee FOCUS assets and customers. In December of 2016 we received Federal approval of the arrangement from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). On January 19th of 2017, we executed the agreement and began taking over the full day-to-day operations of the fiber network and migrated or operations to a Broadband service provider and OSP construction. We immediately began to plan, design, deploy and operate a fiber and wireless broadband network with a footprint from the northern most portion of our county to the southernmost tip and all areas in between.Deploying direct fiber to homes, business, industry, schools, emergency services and other anchor government locations and grew our customer base to more than 2300 customers. We began working with South Carolina Rural Electric Cooperatives with fiber-based connections to their substations, creating partnerships in order to leverage and expand our fiber assets. The cooperatives offer infrastructure assets (poles and towers) and access to their consumers. In 2020 OneTone Telecom, Inc was awarded more than nine million dollars in federal and state grants for development and build-out for an OSP expansion that would have served an additional 12,000 customers. This eventually led to an assets sale that included the network and customers to a local electric coop.OneTone maintained its corporate structure, equipment, employees and for the past 3 years, we have served in a direct consulting and prime contracting role to help grow and maintain networks on the east coast. We currently specialize in all things broadband related as well as all underground and overhead construction.
